Trim is regularly used around the top and bottom of walls, the outside of doors and windows, and as a decorative addition to the interior of homes. The terms molding and trim are often used interchangeably, but molding is actually a type of trim that tends to have a grand, decorative design, such as crown molding.

Material which is used in the sewing room other than the fabric to make a garment, are trims. They are directly attached to the fabric to make garments. Trims can be threads, buttons, lining, beads, zippers, motifs, patches etc. They add a style quotient to the overall look of the wearer.

Trims include Sewing Thread, Button, Zipper, Velcro, Label, Shoulder pad, Linings, Interlinings, etc. Trimmings or trims are of two types namely visible trims and invisible trims.

Fabric trim, or trimming, is an embellishment added to fabric primarily for ornamental or decorative reasons. There are many different types of trim available with some of the most common ones being braid, cord, lace, tassles and ribbon. Highly decorative or elaborate trimmings are sometimes called passementerie.
